8 Tips for Glowing Skin

Glowing skin is more than just having skin that shines, it means having youthful, bright and healthy skin that is full of elasticity. You don't have to be in your 20's to have glowing skin. You can have it at any age and throughout your entire life. Follow our top 8 and you will have glowing skin in no time! You will find yourself feeling more confident, enjoying taking pictures and smiling at yourself in the mirror. You owe it to yourself and the one body you have to take care of it and live the very best life in your skin!

#1 - Stay Hydrated and Eat a Healthy Diet

This is probably the first and most important thing you can do for your bod and skin. When your grandmother said "you are what you eat", she was right. Everything you intake affects your vital organs and your skin is the biggest organ that you own. So drink at least 8 glasses of water each day, eat a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables, nuts and healthy grains as well as lean protein. Limit your sugar, alcohol and carbs. Changing your diet changes everything and you will see results of glowing skin in just days. Tip - speak to your doctor or trainer for a personal list of foods to intake that is geared just for you.

#2 - Exersize

Whether you like to hike, run, swim or practice pilates. Exercise is one of the biggest ways to increase skin elasticity and shine. When you exercise, you stimulate the lymphatic system which carries away waste products from your cells. It also increases micro-circulation in your face, nourishing your cells. Tip - you may instantly increase blood flow to the face and enhance lymphatic drainage by regularly practicing yoga inversions or headstands.

#3 - Avoid Harmful UV Rays

We all love the vitamin D that we get from sunshine and studies say we receive many benefits from soaking up its rays. But it is important to avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10am-2pm when UV rays are the harshest. It is also important to include a sunscreen daily in your routine. Tip - apply Sunscreen in the morning after your shower and keep a sunhat and sunscreen in your car for those last minute adventures.

#4 - Cleanse Twice A Day

Rachel Hollis say's "girl, wash your face", and we 100% agree! The simple fact is that it helps to remove makeup from the day and dirt, oil and impurities that you slough off during the night. Wash your face every morning and right when you get home from your day to improve the productivity of new cells and give your skin time to breath. Tip - we absolutely love our 100% Organic Pure Cleanser from Rose Mira.

#5 - Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps to remove dry, dead skin cells that can clog pores and make your skin appear dull or lifeless. Clogged pores can also lead to blemishes and breakouts. By removing oil congestion and excess dead cells your skin will glow with a fresh and healthy appearance. Finding a good exfoliate is absolutely critical for glowing skin; we recommend our Rose Mira Exfoliating Scrub.

Tip - you should exfoliate 2-3 times a week for normal /combination skin and 1 time a week for more sensitive skin.

#6 - Use a Toner
Toners are so important to lock in the moisture and also level your PH levels so your skin is acting at its best. It also adds a barrier of protection before adding makeup to your routine. Find a toner you love, we recommend our Rose Mira Balancing Toner . Tip - keep your toner in the refrigerator for an extra refreshing boost in the morning.

#7 - Facials
Facials are not just about pampering, they are a great way to take care of your skin and maintain the youthfulness. Try to schedule a facial every month to maintain the best looking skin. We love our local Aesthetics place and use the Hydra-facial to help with extra moisturizing in the dry months. Tip - check out your local Aesthetics for a discount when you sign up for monthly facials, you will be surprised by how affordable they can be and how much your skin will thank you.

#8 - Plenty of Sleep

While you're asleep, your skin and body go into high gear repairing any damage that occurred during the day. When you don't experience the deeper phase of sleep, these repairs won't occur and small daily breakdowns will add up, noticing signs of aging. Make sure you're not only getting at least eight hours of sleep a night, but that it is quality sleep. Tip - try listening to a 10 minute sleep meditation before falling asleep. It will not only relax you but put your subconscious mind in it's best positive state to benefit the most from your sleep.
